Hellcat Maggie is the perfect spot for student-friendly happy hours, home-style meals and yummy brekkie. Hellcat Maggie is a stylish laneway bar and kitchen that mixes classic décor and cushy booths with a young and cool atmosphere. Tuck into burgers, salads, wings, loaded fries and the popular $15 chicken parmy. Want more fun? Hellcat Maggie also hosts some of the fun activities included in our Residential Life calendar.

Yes, we know you need coffee to start your day the right way, and this repurposed shipping container has your daily r coffee fix. Humanity Coffee Co is also right next to our Adelaide building entrance and serves your choice of coffee with takeaway snacks like bacon and egg rolls, sausage rolls plus plenty of baked goodies. For those with more time in their hands, there’s outdoor seating to linger around. Always check their note board for humorous and motivational quotes.

The sushi spot every student need, Karaage is just a few steps away from our Adelaide Street building entrance. Their budget-friendly menu caters for all: from chicken and avo sushi rolls and Japanese-style curries to Udon and stir-fried noodles. To quench your thirst, their fridge is full of refreshing Japanese drinks. Karaage is a great takeaway and dining in option as there’re plently of seats right out front.

Who does not like burgers? Our food outlets would not be complete without a burger joint. Jee’s Burgers & Chicken is all about high-quality grass-fed beef patties that get made from scratch every day and gigantic (tasty) chicken burgers. The chessy fries are also a hit and they have the perfect sauces to pair them with. To top it all off, Jee’s included delicious milkshakes in their menu that not only include the classics vanilla, chocolate and strawberry but also peanut butter and crushed Oreos.

With all the kebabs you can dream of, KebApp caters to every style of diner with vegetarian and halal meat options. A great choice for when you are on the run, it has lots of burgers too. KebApp is family owned and cozy. Don’t forget to check their lunch dishes, they are super affordable!

We know student life can get very busy and there will be that one night you realise you’ve run out of essential groceries at 9:30 pm. Don’t panic, IGA’s got you covered. From ready to eat meals, to popcorn for a late Movie Night in the Cinema Room, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, ice-cream or candles for that surprise birthday for your roommate, you can find it all here, right on your doorstep. From 6 am until 10 pm, 7 days a week, you have access to all you need.

Danbo spoils our Adelaide and Wharf Street residents with late diners after a long day of work or studies. Open until 10 pm, the ramen place takes online orders and quickly became a hit among our students. From the classic ramen to vegetarian options, you will be able to customise the level of spiciness of your meal. And, if you don’t feel like ramen, they offer rice bowls and gyoza. Living at Elizabeth? You won’t be left out, Danbo offers deals to all Student One residents on presentation of your key card.

We could not go without a taste of Thailand at Wharf Street, and Malee delivers. The only traditional Thai barbecue in Brisbane city, as they claim, has a beautiful décor that will make you forget you’re in the heart of the CBD. The menu has everything you need for a Thai feast, from Pad Thai and Pad See Ew to delicious Satay Chicken and Curry Puffs. For drinks, order the Thai tea or, if you’re over 18, don’t miss out on the Chang Thai beer.

Lunch your way. My Poke serves the trendy ‘deconstructed bowls of sushi’ every weekday. Choose between a poke or curry bowl and customise your base (options are brown or white rice, kale and quinoa or green salad) protein, salad, sauce, and toppings. Ingredients are fresh, tasty and healthy. If that’s not enough, My Poke also has seats inside and out to make your lunch break more enjoyable.

If you’re in a rush and need something quick, healthy, and delicious, you need to drop by Pocket Micro Cafe. You will find a variety of takeaway coffee, iced tea and pressed juice to pair with their ‘classic’ and delicious toasties – that they claim to be the best in town. Flavours range from specials like ‘The Hungarian’ (salami, Swiss cheese, pickles, peppers and mustard) to the ‘traditional’ (smoked) ham and (gooey) cheese. When you’re after a healthier bite try their salad. If you have a sweet tooth, don’t worry, there’s a cookie jar!

If food fusion is your thing, Lu Cha is the place for you. Traditional Chinese tea is transformed and adapted in several innovative ways here, resulting in a delicious and unique Chinese-Australian menu. Signature dishes are marinated or cooked in tea or pared with tea-based sauces. Also, don’t be surprised if you see a fellow resident walking around Elizabeth common areas carrying one of Lu Cha’s Bubble Teas. They have a vast variety of them (more than fifty) that can be purchased to go from their bar and range from fruit creamy tea to Taro and Milk Cream Bobo Cha.

All things matcha and a variety of savory dishes with a modern-day Kyoto cafe experience, Koto Sanpo is a cozy Japanese cafe that serves classic bento boxes, udon noodles, Japanese curry chips and a multitude of matcha-based drinks and desserts. For a little indulgent treat, invite your friends and try the Koto High Tea.

Fancy Japanese style barbecue with reasonable price quality meat? Try Yakiniku Hachi. You’ll barbecue your own meat over a flame of wood charcoal. They offer a huge and diverse selection, ranging from wagyu beef and duck to beef heart, miso marinated cuts and seafood. The menu also includes plenty of side dishes, salads, and snacks as well as lunch specials and rice dishes.It’s a feast!

Another Asian Fusion cuisine spot, Sizzling Braised Pot serves stone pot, special rice, noodles as well as the highly recommended crispy fried chicken. It’s an amazing place for a quick meal and great deals. To start your week off right, try their $8.90 Monday Special which includes braised chicken and rice.

Elizabeth Arcade also has its ‘make your own bowl’ spot. At Fill the Bowl, you will select your ingredients (vegetables, meat, seafood, noodles and more) from the display and weigh them when you’re finished. You can also choose how spicy you wish your soup to be and wait until your food is cooked in the broth. A buzzer will sound to let you know it’s ready to go.

The newest addition to our foodie family, Niaw Mu Grilled Pork Skewers truck is located right at the bottom of our Elizabeth Street building grand and well known staircase. Their passion is Thai Street Food and they’re all about taste and simplicity. The pork is marinated in soy sauce, coconut milk and special Thai herbs, and then grilled on charcoal for the barbecue lovers’ delight.
