How can I schedule a visit to Student One’s premises? Show answer

How many beds do you have? Show answer

Student One Adelaide Street has 698 beds available. Student One Wharf Street has 753 beds and Student One Elizabeth Street has 901 beds available.

Can I live there regardless of where I’m studying? Show answer

Student One has relationships with all of Brisbane’s education providers and we are happy to accommodate you as long as you are studying. No matter what you study and no matter where you study.

Rooms

What types of rooms do you have? Show answer

Our room types include single, double, bunk, twin, king and executive studios, and shared 4-,  5- or 6 bedroom apartments.

If I have a medical condition and I use a wheelchair do you have accessible rooms? Show answer

We have wheelchair-accessible rooms and rooms we can reconfigure to suit your needs. We’ll work together to ensure you are comfortable and at home at Student One.

What do I need to bring with me? Show answer

Your clothing, bedding and any personal items you wish to bring. If you want to travel light, Student One has bedding packs available for purchase, so there’s no need to bring anything big with you. All kitchens are fitted out with essentials such as pots, pans, plates, cups and cutlery.

Are the rooms air-conditioned? Show answer

Yes, all studios and apartments are air-conditioned. As Brisbane has a sub-tropical climate we do not provide any heating, just cooling.

Do you have a prayer room? Show answer

No, we do not have a dedicated prayer room, however we can provide you with information on the closest places of worship.

Services

What if I arrive late at night? Show answer

Our official check-in time is from 2pm and check-out is before 10am. As our reception is staffed 24/7 we will always be able to accommodate you at any time of the day.

Can you arrange my airport pick-ups? Show answer

Absolutely. We can arrange airport pick-ups for you. Just email us your details at accommodation@studentone.com and we will arrange. We will advise you of the cost of the pick up at the time of the booking.

Will I be able to meet other people? Show answer

We have an extensive social calendar full of events organised by our activity coordinators. Some of our events include city tours, semester balls, theme park visits, cultural tours, sporting events, to name a few. You will have many opportunities to meet other like-minded students from across the globe.

Do you prepare my meals? Show answer

Each studio and apartment is fitted with kitchen facilities to allow you to cook for yourself to your own schedule and culinary needs. There are no catered options available but several food outlets are located within the buildings on street level and we frequently organise food nights as part of our community engagement program.

Do you clean my room? Show answer

The short answer is no. We are responsible for keeping all public and common areas clean while you are responsible to keeping your own room clean and tidy, just as is is when you arrive. You can arrange to have your room cleaned at a cost (actual cost is depending in size of room and time required). We do provide vacuum cleaners at reception free of charge but all other cleaning materials have to be purchased by yourself.

Do you offer car parking? Show answer

No, we do not offer any car parking at either of our residences. If you need a space for your car we recommend Parkable.

Can my family and friends stay for a visit? Show answer

As Student One is purpose built for students and students only we recommend your visiting family and friends stay at our partner hotel, HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS just 300 metres up the road from Adelaide and Wharf street.

Near Elizabeth Street we recommend Hotel Ibis Styles Brisbane, located just across the road, next to Uptown (formerly the Myer Centre).  To book simply click here, select destination “ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street” and follow the prompts. Done.

We offer flexible living options to suit all budgets and needs. All of our apartment types are fully furnished and air-conditioned. Room types include a range of studio types and five-bedroom share apartments. To view more of our options follow the menu prompts to rooms. You will have the opportunity to live in the heart of Brisbane, enjoying access to free unlimited WiFi internet, communal facilities such as kitchens and BBQ areas, gaming and entertainment areas, a 24hr customer service team and high-level security features.

What internet options do I have at student one? Show answer

Free unlimited WiFi internet is available throughout all Student One properties for you to use and you can have up to 3 devices online at any given time.

Are water, gas and electricity included in my rent? Show answer

Yes, all utilities including water, gas and electricity are included in your rent.

Lease Agreement

How do I make a booking? Show answer

e offer a quick and easy online application process where you simply click the “APPLY NOW” button to fill in a simple application  form. Our reservations team will then check availabilities  for you and get back to you within 2 working days. You can also call or email us or book via your place of study or your education agent if you are using one.

What are the rates? Show answer

Our rates vary depending on the type of living solution you are seeking. You will always find the most up-to-date rates on this website.

Do you offer financial accommodation support/scholarships? Show answer

From time to time we offer our own accommodation scholarship. The details are shared on our website when scholarships are available.

How often do I need to pay rent? Show answer

Rent is paid fortnightly in advance, with the exception of a 4-week contract where full payment is taken prior to your arrival. We will provide you with a rent schedule so you can plan for each of the rent payments.

How do I pay for my rent? Show answer

A two-week rent in advance payment can be paid via a MasterCard and Visa to secure your place at a Student One residence. The ongoing rent can is to be paid from a bank account as long as it is from an Australian bank account.

Are the rental rates shown as per person or per apartment? Show answer

Your rental rate is per person, per week for all studios and apartments. We do however offer some ‘couples rooms’ that can cater for two with a surcharge for the second person. Our Executive-, King- and Queen Studios can accommodate up to two people.

Do I need to pay a bond? Show answer

Yes, you will be required to pay a bond which will be forwarded to the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA). This is used as a security payment in the event of any damage, rental arrears or cleaning to the property is required upon your departure. If the apartment is left in an acceptable condition and your rent is paid up to date, then the bond will be returned in full.

What if I need to cancel? Show answer

We understand life happens and sometimes you are forced to cancel your booking. If you do so by no less than 14 days prior to your booked check-in date we are happy to refund your 2 weeks’ deposit in full.

Will I be bound by any residency rules? Show answer

Yes, you will be provided with a copy of the Residence Rules as part of your offer. Each Student One resident is required to follow our Residence Rules.

What happens if I damage or break something? Show answer

If you damage or break any of our property then you will be required to pay for the repair or replacement. You will be given notice of this charge and it will be charged to your account. In the event items are damaged when you move out, the cost of repair/replacement will be deducted from your bond payment. If this amount exceeds the amount taken as bond, you will be required to pay any outstanding fees. If there is damage caused by multiple residents, then the cost to fix the damage will be divided between you and the others involved.

What are the check-in and check-out times? Show answer

Our official check-in time is from 2PM.

The check-out time is 10AM.

As we operate 24/7 you might be able to check-in at any time, but please check with your residence as your room might still be occupied until 10AM.

Can I check in after the agreement start date? Show answer

Yes, however your rent starts from the date of your tenancy agreement, whether or not you have checked in.

If I don’t like the property what is the refund process? Show answer

You are bound by the Residential Tenancies Agreement. Student One will endeavour to work out any issues with you within the guidelines set out by the Agreement.

If I pay the deposit and my visa is denied, will I get any refund? Show answer

Student One management will review your individual circumstance in order to determine the most appropriate outcome. If you notify us by no later than 14 days before the start of the agreement then all rent paid will be refunded.

Will the price of my rent increase? Show answer

Your rent will not increase for the term of your contract however, all future pricing will be assessed each year.

Can I stay with you for less than six months? Show answer

Student One offers Brisbane’s most flexible living solutions, so we can tailor your contract length to as little as 12 weeks.

Can I stay longer than 12 months? Show answer

Yes, you certainly can. But please note that the maximum length of a lease with Student One is 52 weeks (1 year) at a time. Before your current contract has ended, you will be offered the opportunity to extend your stay.

Can I live there if I’m under 18? Show answer

Yes, all our employees have Queensland Government Blue Card certification, a background check that allows us to work with people aged under 18 years. Student One is also Brisbane’s only purpose-built student accommodation that has been approved by all major universities and schools to accommodate their under 18 year old students.

Can I live with my partner? Show answer

Yes, Student One welcomes couples. Please take the time to look at our Rooms page to book an Executive -, King- or Queen Studio, which can be configured to accommodate couples. Please note there is a small weekly surcharge for the second person.

Can I live there if I’m on a working holiday visa even if I can prove I’m studying? Show answer

Yes we welcome all students, as long as you can provide a proof of study enrolment.

Can I choose who I live with? Show answer

Generally, yes, if you have a friend who also wants to stay at Student One and you would like to live together then you are both able to make the request or email us at accommodation@studentone.com so we can assist with your query. All requests are subject to availability.

Can I live with 3 or 4 of my friends in a 5 bed apartment? Show answer

Yes, we are happy to accommodate you and your friends if you wish to live together. If there are spare spaces in your apartment then we will find other students to fill the remaining bedrooms. All requests are subject to availability.

If I want to host a visitor, can they stay with me at Student One? Show answer

Yes, you are permitted to have visitors, however you must inform us. If you have room-mates, you must seek the permission beforehand. In the event that any of your room-mates are not happy to have a visitor then your visitor will have to make other arrangements.

Can I have a pet? Show answer

We are aware these aren’t pets, but guide-, hearing- or assistance dogs are of course permitted on the premises. For health and safety reasons we do not recommend bringing a pet, but, if you really must bring your pet, please apply for permission by contacting accommodation@studentone.com .
