New Year’s resolutions are fine. Good stuff you can actually finish is better. Even if you’re not the #NewYearNewMe type, it’s a good time to write down (important) those things you’ve been putting off.
It’s tempting to just put your feet up and let the uni break pass you by, but there’s so much to see and do, and, let’s face it, it’s your chance to create #insta moments to reflect on when you’re mid-semester and need inspo to get you through the term.
At the start of every year, thousands of first-year university students from across Queensland begin their new life in Brisbane. It can feel exciting, overwhelming, and downright confusing – often all at the same time.
So if you’re still staying within the limits of the Sunshine State, how different can it really be?
Res Life at Student One is officially back in action (following COVID-19 safe procedures of course) and it is so great to see our community back together again. Our community and Res Life is a huge part (and benefit) of the inner city living at Student One. It is a great way to adjust to your new home, make new friends, have some fun, get help with your studies and gain any assistance and support you need.
With an average of 283 days of sunshine every single year, those of us lucky enough to live in Brisbane can’t really complain when the cooler weather comes knocking. Brisbane winter is known for its mild temperatures and brilliant sunshine, making it pleasant during the day and jumper weather at night.
We may be a little biased but we think Brisbane is a pretty great place to live. Yes, the world has changed since COVID-19, and while studying online has its benefits, it can leave you feeling a little isolated and even a bit unmotivated. So we say ”Make the move to Brisbane and take control of your life.” You’ll be able to reconnect with your friends, meet new people and really feel like a student again.
We are adjusting our res life activities to remain in line with the current COVID-19 restrictions (stay tuned!), but in the meantime our residents have been staying connected and sharing the good feelings across Instagram with our #FeelGoodFriday competition.
Australia is at the front of the pack when it comes to curbing COVID-19 and we are so proud of how our residents and staff have played their parts in stopping the spread. We can now start the road to recovery and restrictions in Queensland have been eased.
Our res life activities may look a little different, but we are still finding ways to utilise our strong Student One community, even if it is from 1.5m apart. We recently ran a #ChooseYourChallenge competition across Instagram, TikTok and our Facebook page for residents only.
