13 prime photography locations across Brisbane

Brisbane is one very pretty city, bursting with places just waiting to be photographed. Not sure where to start? We’ve scouted Brisbane and come up with the 13 most instagram-worthy spots you need to check out and get snappin’.

The Story Bridge

For the best view of this iconic Brisbane bridge we recommend heading to Wilson Outlook Reserve. This small and secluded park is one of Brisbane’s best kept secrets and as such is relatively crowd free. We suggest heading out for sunset to find the bridge bathed in cotton candy colours.

Location: Wilsons Lookout, Bowen Terrace, New Farm QLD

Eat Street

Set against a city and river backdrop, Eat Street has 180 shipping containers filled to the brim with entertainment and delicious dishes from around the world. Grab your favourite snack and go exploring – with an Instagram-worthy spot around every corner you won’t want to put your camera (or your fork) down.

Location: Eat Street Northshore, MacArthur Avenue, Hamilton QLD

The Brisbane Sign

What started out as a temporary installation the Brisbane sign is here to stay – which is no surprise considering its high levels of popularity. Nestled on the banks of the Brisbane River in the South Bank Parklands this relatively new landmark is definitely not a rookie when it comes to being in front of the camera.

Location: South Bank Parklands, South Brisbane QLD

Mt Coot-tha Lookout

Dubbed as Brisbane’s best view this vantage point will show you all that Brisbane has to offer. While popular at sunrise, this lookout takes Instagram-worthy to a whole new level at night with the city lights sparkling and the stars lighting up the sky. Only a short drive from the CBD this spot will give you a view worth sharing.

Location: Brisbane Lookout, Mt Coot-tha, Sir Samuel Griffith Drive, Mount Coot-Tha QLD

Kangaroo Point Cliffs

As a hub of activity Kangaroo Point Cliffs provides an ideal backdrop for whatever you’re up to. This stunning location is picture-perfect at dusk – when the river mirrors the skyline and the sun sets over the city.

Location: Kangaroo Point Cliffs Park, River Terrace, Kangaroo Point QLD

El’Rosa by Arc + Family

Used as a cafe, event space and photoshoot location, this pink paradise has become very popular among the ’grammers and is gracing Instagram feeds everywhere. Still not convinced? Check out their menu, which you’ll find is perfectly matched to the decor and just as aesthetically pleasing.

Location: El’Rosa by Arc + Family, James Street, Fortitude Valley QLD

Howard Smith Wharf Precinct

With its unique riverfront location (directly under the Story Bridge) giving it a distinctive view of the city, this Brisbane hot spot is the place to be. We recommend grabbing your friends and heading to Mr Percivals or Felons for an arvo drink – where you can watch the sunset and capture photos to your heart’s content.

Location: Howard Smith Wharf Precinct, Boundary Street, Brisbane City QLD

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Who doesn’t want memories of themselves with Australia’s most loved furry friends? Whether you’re cuddling up to a koala or hand feeding the kangaroos and wallabies these are moments you are going to want to share.

Location: Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Jesmond Road, Fig Tree Pocket QLD

Streets Beach

Get your cameras ready as you discover Australia’s only inner-city, man-made beach. As a harmonious mix of city life and beach vacay, this is a Brisbane icon you’ll want in your holiday snaps.

Location: Streets Beach, Stanley Street Plaza, South Brisbane QLD

The Wheel of Brisbane

Brisbane’s version of the famed London Eye will give you a panoramic, 360-degree view as far as the eye can see. On a budget? Never fear, the wheel itself is a view in its own right. We suggest waiting until dark to get your cameras out as the wheel turns into a shining beacon.

Location: The Wheel of Brisbane, Russel Street, South Brisbane QLD

Brisbane City Hall

With free guided tours daily there is no excuse not to grab your camera (or phone) and head inside this heritage-listed and culturally iconic building. With marble staircases, chandeliers and the prominent clock tower there will be plenty of photo opportunities. Don’t fancy a tour? No worries, the facade is just as photogenic and you’ll easily be able to get the shot without stepping a foot in the door.

City Botanic Gardens

As the city’s oldest park the City Botanic Gardens are a sight worth seeing – but the real Instagram hack is to wait until night falls. In the darkness you’ll find yourself bathed in a magical canopy of lights from the fairy light covered branches of two fig trees. Capture and share this spot and you’ll have the likes flooding in.

Location: City Botanic Gardens, Alice Street, Brisbane City QLD

I Heart Brownies

Because who doesn’t love brownies? Make sure you head to the Bakery and Cafe location in Bowen Hills and strike a pose in front of the red and white love themed murals. Plus, while you’re there treat yourself to one of their 12 brownie flavours (or try them all), which as an added bonus are all proudly gluten free.
