Where to find the best burgers in Brisbane City

Who knew there were so many places to get great burgers in Brisbane City? If you didn’t, you’re about to find out just how plentiful your options are. From pulled pork burgers with smoked pineapple to the classic cheeseburger – these are all the places to get your burger fill in the Brisbane CBD.

Red Hook Brisbane

Red Hook Burger
This Brooklyn-inspired bar in Gresham Lane is known for its big, beefy burgers – like the Uptown Funk with gorgonzola sauce, Resolution Breaker with double beef, and the Grandmaster Flash (classic beef burger). Burgers start at $13, or go during happy hour (daily after 4pm) to get specials.

Grill’d

Everything you know and love from Grill’d Healthy Burgers is available at its Wintergarden, Albert Street and Eagle Street Pier stores. It’s a little bit naughty and a little bit nice depending on how you’re feeling, so you won’t feel super #guilty for making this your lunch or dinner choice.

Jees Burger

A popular burger spot for Brisbane foodies, Jees Burger on Adelaide Street has all the cheesy classics, with its own special sauce. The burgers come in small, regular, large and extra large so you can choose your size based on appetite. Bonus: it’s at the foot of Student One Adelaide Street residence.

Miss Kays

This classic American burger bar on George Street was noted by Good Food Guide 2016 as “Arguably the best burgers in Brisbane”. It may or may not still hold this title but either way, the burgers are good, classic and cheesy. Up for a challenge? Then you’ll want to take on the Big Kay’s Challenge, where you’ll take on five-patty, five-cheese burgers surrounded by fries. Complete the task in 15 minutes and you’ll find yourself on the wall of fame.

Buffalo Bar

This Mary Street establishment is serving up everything from buffalo fried chicken burgers with bacon, onion rings, ranch and lettuce to 2kg platters of wings served with blue cheese ranch dipping sauce and celery. But don’t worry, they still have the classics. Get $15 burgers Monday to Friday from 11.30am-3pm and check out their weekly specials to score a bargain every day of the week.

Fat Angel Sports Bar

Fat Angel Burger
Brooklyn Standard’s new neighbour is delivering all the American goods, so it’s only natural it makes a mean burger. Check it out on Eagle Lane for grilled chicken, classic cheese, works burgers or a Philly cheese steak sandwich (is a sandwich a burger? We’ll let you be the judge).

Mos Burger

Not your average burgers. This Japanese fast food restaurant is known for its sushi-meets-burger creations as well as big, juicy wagyu burgers. It’s a bit different to what the Americans intended, but if you’re up for it, it’s something different and a bit healthier, too. Find Mos Burger in Queen Street Mall.

Burger Urge

‘Dealers of delicious’, Brisbane-born Burger Urge serves up everything from a Boston Cheese to a Babe and Daisy (bacon and beef) at its QUT Gardens Point campus store. These gourmet burgers are a go-to lunch hit with QUT students.

Santa Monica Pizza and Burger Bar

A little more modest are the burgers at Santa Monica, a California-inspired eatery on Ann Street. Check out Santa Monica for classic, chilli cheese, cajun chicken and more mouthwatering goodness.

Hellcat Maggie

This place has student-friendly drinks and affordable eats nearby the Student One residence, day and night. Not only does their atmospheric restaurant and bar dish up breakfast, lunch and dinner, their burgers are on fire. Complement that with salads, wings and fries, or home-style favourites like lasagna, meatballs and spag bol. The best part? Most eats are under $15.

Betty’s Burgers

Betty’s Burgers has two Brisbane City locations, you’ll find them on Albert Street or in Howard Smith Wharves. This classic burger shack offers up some of the freshest, juiciest and tastiest burgers around. Go for a Betty’s Classic or a Crispy Chicken Supreme and a side of fries is not optional. Their burgers mostly come in at $15 and under – very kind on your wallet.

51st Street

This New York City-inspired burger bar has locations at George Street and Eagle Street Pier. Offering up breakfast, lunch and dinner, they have you covered for all of your meals. Pick a classic American Cheeseburger or take on a challenge with the Streets Big Burger, which is filled with two house-made beef patties, cheese, bacon, egg, onion rings, pickles, oak leaf and STREETsauce.
