One of the largest parks within the Brisbane city centre is the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens. Located next to QUT’s Gardens Point Campus and boarded by the Brisbane River it is a green oasis within the vibrant city. There are a number of different parts and features of the gardens, including riverfront seating, a large amphitheatre, fountains, ornamental ponds, tree fringed avenues and extensive green spaces.
During lunch, these green spaces come alive with those seeking active pursuits such as games of soccer, frisbee, personal training and bike riding. On the weekends it is a great place to have a picnic, catch some sun or read a book as the various types of bird sing their song. It is an easy 12 minute walk from the Student One residences to reach the City Botanic Gardens. The best way, is to head down to the City Reach Boardwalk running along the Brisbane River and then following it to the park’s entrance.
